Any Last Words?

In this message from Ecclesiastes 11–12, Guest Speaker Conrad Meadows delivers a sobering reminder that life is brief, our bodies are fading, and eternity is real. Solomon calls us to enjoy life, but never forget that we are accountable to God. Pleasure, youth, and success are gifts — not ultimate goals — and one day each of us will give an account for how we lived.

The sermon walks through three clear calls from the text. First, we must remember our responsibility: enjoy God’s blessings, but live with reverence, obedience, and awareness that we belong to Him. Second, we must remember our mortality. Using Solomon’s vivid imagery of aging and decay, Conrad reminds us that our failing bodies are a mercy — a constant sign pointing us beyond this world to the one that lasts forever. We were not made for temporary satisfaction, but for eternal life with God.

Finally, the message points us to revealed truth and eternal reward. God’s Word is sufficient, piercing, and purposeful — meant to guide, correct, and anchor us. Solomon’s conclusion is simple and weighty: fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. The sermon closes by calling both believers and unbelievers to respond — to repent, believe the gospel, live wisely under the sun, and remember God in every stage of life, knowing that He alone gives life, meaning, and lasting hope.
